Powder Coating is the process of using a static charge to fuse a dry powder to a grounded part. This dry powder then cooks in an oven to create a durable, attractive, hard protective coating that prevents rust. Common applications for Powder Coating include, Aluminium Rims, Steel Rims, motorcycle frames, bicycle frames, engine components, tables, chairs, metal brackets and much more. As formerly mentioned powder coat can be applied to any part that can hold an electric charge, but this doesn’t limit its application. You can apply a coating for cosmetic purposes to most materials that can withstand the curing temperature for the powder at 180°C, this process is called hot flocking. This involves pre heating the part to the curing temperature that gives the powder a surface to adhere to. This method is common for putting an attractive coating on glass parts. Here at Fabcoat Ltd we can offer other surfaces including metal fabrication and sandblasting. Sandblasting is the process of using a pressurised abrasive material on a metal part to remove rust, remove any residue from oxidation, any prior coatings on the part and remove any imperfections on the surface of the part. Sandblasting stops and resets oxidation and rust, along with the protective coating you will not have to worry about rust or oxidation on your part. Sandblasting also puts a profile on the substrate and gives the powder an ideal even surface that is clean of contaminants to adhere to. Get in touch today if you think Powder Coating might be the correct coating for your part.
All of the parts that go out of the shop have had a thorough film thickness check and are ensured the powder has adhered and bonded correctly.
All of our products are put through rigorous blast cleaning to ensure no contaminants are left on the part, including prior coating, rust, oil and grime.
